My name is Coral, and I am a Neurodivergent person and qualified Person-Centred therapist. Being Person-Centred, I am trained in a way that focuses on you and your needs and we (you and I together), undertake therapy at your pace.
Being Neurodivergent myself (I have ADHD, dyslexia, and dyspraxia), I have a special interest and understanding in working with other Neurodiverse people - although I am open to working with all kinds of clients. I have also undergone additional training in supporting Neurodivergent people. My ethos when working with Neurodiversity is to explore and accept your Neurodivergence and self-worth, find and nourish your strengths, and develop any coping mechanisms you may need for living in a Neurotypical world.
I am a fully qualified Person-Centred counsellor and psychotherapist. I spent three years undertaking my counselling training and I hold a Higher Professional Diploma (HPD) in Person-Centred Counselling from a BACP accredited course. I graduated in July 2020. I was also awarded special achievement for being 'Top of the Class’ for the year of graduating.
I have further training in:
I'm here to listen to your experience of being Neurodivergent in a Neurotypical world (I believe that there is great healing in being heard), to offer support, and help you build acceptance of your differences. After all, we don't need curing or fixing because we aren't broken! We can also build on your strategies and coping mechanisms. I know it can be tough being different but let's think of nourishment, not punishment and learn to play to our strengths! I reckon life is far more rich and vibrant when we're all different anyway.
Explore, reflect, accept & grow.
I have spent extensive time working with young people and this is another area I am very passionate about. Young people are the future and so, it is vitally important to ensure their minds are healthy and happy. I believe young people also offer an important, relevant unique, and fresh perspective on the world.
I have also spent a lot of time working with older clients (over 65) and this again is another area I am very interested in working with.
I work with clients from all walks of life - please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Having grown up around mental illness, I have great empathy and compassion for those in need. I passionately believe in the power of talking therapies - exploring your emotions, being heard, sitting with your feelings and finally, letting go and moving forward. We all have such great potential for growth and strength. I too, have found solace in talking therapies during my life.
I hold a BA Philosophy degree and a Foundation Diploma in Art & Design, both of which informs my practice when working creatively or dealing with existential issues.
I am registered with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and my registration number is 382969, I also adhere to the BACP ethical framework. I am registered with the ICO, am GDPR compliant, have professional counselling supervision, as well as being fully insured.
I run my private practice Coral Sabrina Therapy and I also work for Randstad as a Specialist Mental Health Mentor, here I work remotely with students supporting them through their journey through university.
Previously I have worked for The ReWise Project and Renaissance Horizons as a Person-Centred counsellor. I have experience with all kinds of clients including adults, young people, older people, and Neurodivergent people.
The Person-Centred Approach is a:
humanistic, talking therapy that is concerned with empowering you and giving you the support to be the best you that you can be!
"Right, so, what does that actually mean?"
Well, essentially, you're the expert on you, and as we are equal in this relationship, I won't be directing you, analysing you, diagnosing you, or telling you what to do; instead, I will see you, I will hear you, I will accept you! I will 'walk with you' whilst you explore, reflect, accept, and grow (like that lovely forest pictured!).
There is no set path, pace, or agenda here, this is a space for you to just be. As the sessions are led by you, we will work in your preferred way (e.g. with art materials, games, music - whatever works for you), you can even attend in pyjamas and not say a single word if that's what you need! We can create a structured, goal-orientated space or we can work freely and organically with what you bring each week. (If you are interested in the theory behind Person-Centred work, I'm happy to discuss that too)!
This really is your space. There is no right or wrong way for you to be in your sessions.
However the space looks for you, we can work together through your emotions, thoughts, and feelings to help you heal from your pain, grow from your experiences and take charge of your life! In doing so, this can bring...
After all, this is your life, no one else's and you deserve to live it free from the expectations of others and knowing you are enough - (it's true, you really are enough)!
I am open to working with clients from all walks of life. I have experience with young people, adults, older people and neurodiverse people.
I have a special interest in Neurodivergent people and 18-35 year olds. I do not claim to be an expert in Neurodivergence, rather I have lived experience, a special interest, and some additional specific training. My ethos when working with Neurodiversity is to explore and accept your Neurodivergence and self-worth, find and nourish your strengths, and develop any coping mechanisms you may need for living in a Neurotypical world.
